Hwy 160 in Co.

My plan is to take Hwy 160 from Hwy 25 through Durango and Cortez to the four corners Then into AZ to hwy 89 and up to St George UT, can anyone tell me how that route is.

Leaving I-25 on US 160 you will first cross north La Veta pass. Fairly long and a little steep but not a bad pass at all. After crossing the San Louis valley and passing the town of South Fork you will climb Wolf Creek pass at over 10,800 ft. But traveling westbound is the easier direction. The west side is long and steep, so be careful about your speed going down. But two lanes going down so you can stay right, stay slow, and not impede traffic. One significant switchback as you near the bottom. Once you reach the bottom easy ride the rest of the way.

    This is correct.

You didn't say how you were getting to St. George. If you're taking 89 from Page, AZ go to Fredonia, AZ and pick up AZ389 which becomes UT59 at Colorado City. Then Hwy 9 west to I-15 and St. George.

  • Keep your eye on your fuel gauge. Decent roads but a lot of empty miles out there.
  • Shouldn't be any issue unless its winter and there are a couple of passes but good road to travel
