Not related to the route (we came down from Waterton) but we have enjoyed the busy KOA here at St. Mary's. Nice staff, modern laundry and bathroom facilities, great gift shop with high quality items, hiking gear, some convenience foods, and Montana-made ice cream flavors scooped for cones. We ordered pizza one night, very good and delivered hot to our site. They'll begin offering the barbecue starting on this weekend.
It's a great location, very close to the visitor center. The jammer red bus tours pick up from the KOA office. A lot of fun, though today they couldn't go to all the way to Logan Pass because an avalanche was not yet cleared.
Only downside is the Wifi is weak and there's no cable TV or over-the-air antenna channels, but not a big deal. Very high wind all day here today, and blowing dust. The town itself ibetween here and the visitor center is small, just a couple of gas stations and hotels, so stock up before you come.
