Hwy 2 thru Duluth

Driving in on hwy 2 from the west. 35' MH with toad. Can I take the Richard Bong bridge and jump over to hwy 2/53 to head south?
  • Absolutely. (No tolls or restrictions). Lakehead Boat Basin marina and rv park in Duluth on the harbor makes a great overnight. You can also park on the street out on the point and no overnight restriction.
  • Just be aware that if you take the Hwy 2 bridge, it will exit into downtown Superior as Hwy 2 runs through downtown. It is 2 lane in each direction, but stop lights at each block.

If you go up to 535 to the bridge, you will avoid downtown, there will be some stoplights, but once you cross the bridge, you will be on Hwy 2/53. I usually take this bridge just so I can avoid the traffic and stop and go of downtown Superior. There is a nice museum about Bong shortly after you exit on the WI side.

Sorry I haven't named each bridge, but I get the names mixed up all the time. Old age is getting the best of me.

Yep. A good route and you can fuel in Superior just after the bridge. Fuel is cheaper in Wi than Mn. Use Gas Buddy to pick your station. We ran it in late April in a snow storm on the way to Alaska, but no problems.
