Hwy 285 from Fort Stockton Texas to Carlsbad, NM

Making my first long RV trip in 38 ft. motorhome towing a Honda CRV this summer to Durango. Will be traveling Hwy 285 from Kerrville, TX, through Ft. Stockton, Texas to Carlsbad, NM. Any ideas where ...

Another route would be I-10 to Van Horn. Then 54 up to Carlsbad.
We have take this route. Nice roads.
