Hwy 3 to Hwy 95 to I-84

Is this a road worth taking for scenery and a one night or more stay?
Looking at leaving Farragut St park in July and heading down those roads and stop for an over niter at Farewell Bend St. We may a 2-3 day trip if there's decent camping along the way.
  • Just a suggestion, mention the state and area in your subject line. I have no idea what part of the country you are talking about. Obviously somewhere north of I-80 tho.
  • OP is traveling from Northern Panhandle of Idaho. Fare well Bend is a WA State Park on the Idaho border situated along the Snake River.
Your route has some great scenery. Be careful of the long steep down grade near White Bird, ID.
There is a good federal campground near Orifino. We travel along the Clearwater River on US 12 then take ID 13(not a straight road) back to US 95.
  • Guess I should've said Idaho. And Farewell Bend State Recreation Area thats just north of Ontario Or.
  • Idaho State Highway 6 is very scenic. Goes right next to (what used to be) the largest White Pine in Idaho. There is a basic USFS campground there as well. Nice leisurely walks start from there as well. Also consider Laird Park on the Potlatch River. SH3 is nice as well. Goes through several historic logging towns. If you take SH3, beware of a moderate grade near Kendrick. If you'd like more particulars PM me. Kudos to you for wanting to take the scenic route!

Minor correction. Farewell Bend is an Oregon State Park.
  • oops! That is correct Oregon.
Several nice free camp sites along the river between I-84 and Wieser, ID
  • Thanks for the replies. Been on a couple CG sites along with Google Earth and it looks like it will be a nice trip.
