Hwy 550 Bloomfield to Bernalillo, NM

I've read most of what has been posted about this route, but am still left wondering what it is really like. Opinions seem to differ. I could use some feedback from those who have actually traveled on it. Bear in mind that I'm not 25, driving a jeep and looking for adventure (sigh...). More like very mature (read this as old & dull) and looking for smooth roads without chuckholes or coal burning creepers. Will be traveling with the rig in my sig.
