Several years ago I stopped for fuel at the Casino. Started fueling when an employee came out and walked toward my. I then realized the employees must pump the fuel. I apologize for jumping in. The employee said “no worries, we use Indian rules” he then turned and went into the office.

Don't forget that Cabbage Hill east of Pendelton is one of the great downgrades (or uphills if you go the other way!) of America. Be careful!

If you can take an extra 45 minutes after coming off the grade, check out Boardman RV and Marine park. Huge sites with full hook-ups separated by gobs of nicely mowed grass. Many sites right on the Columbia River.

Technically, if you have a diesel vehicle, you can pump your own diesel in Oregon.

A few miles north from La Grande on I84 is a forest road (NF21) at exit 248. Turn left at bottom of ramp, and about 2-3 miles is a free Nat Forest CG, Spring Creek. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/wallowa-whitman/recarea/?recid=52121 Not big, but should be ok for your rig.


OR, keep heading into the woods, and along NF21 you'll find quite a few dispersed sites. If you use google maps or google earth, you can see a lot of them. A couple are on the free campsites site mentioned previously. Some could be muddy if early June, and on the weekends, you'll run into a fair amount of ATV's running around!!

Another plus for fueling at Wild Horse is that YOU CAN PUMP YOUR OWN! It is Oregon.

Did you check freecampsites.net. They have a lot of disbursed camping sites in the area.

I second Wildhorse Casino. or if you prefer more rustic - Emigrant Springs is gorgeous.

Fuel at the Wildhorse Tribal station is lower then others in area.
