I-10 across Louisana?

Heading to Topsail this weekend and trying to decide the best route. I can go I-20 to Jackson MS. then down US 59 to Hattiesburg and on to Mobile and so forth.
Or can take I-59 south out of Jackson to I-10 and on to Mobile and so forth. Would add a few miles to the trip but be interstate all the way. Usually stay off interstates but this time we are just making miles. Any suggestions appreciated.

thanks,
Phillip

  • I like that route but I tell you if you stay on 10 up to hwy 331 south and follow it down till it ends on 98 and then turn right on 98 Topsail is just a few miles down the road and you bypass all the Destin traffic and traffic lights. Have fun we love topsail.

Take I-20 to just past Meridian, MS, then take US 45 to 158 south of Citronelle across to I65 South, take Exit 9 and bypass Mobile and the tunnel, pick up I10 just past the docks and continue east on i10 to the Destin exit you want. I've done the route from Meridian to Destin twice this year, good roads, not a lot of big trucks, roads and exits are well marked. Headed that way again on the 24th.

That may just be the ticket. Thanks!

  • You may want to avoid the Slidell area. There is a major construction project going on at the I10/12/59 split. The work is going on at night and not sure what affect it will have, but the local news talks about it every night.
  • If using I-10 across La. Take I-12 north of New Orleans. Do NOT follow I-10 down thru N.O.:E
  • You can take 49 from Jackson to Hattiesburg. 49 not a bad highway but can have traffic and limited facilities. I prefer I55 to I12 (Hammond la, merges with I10 at Slidell). I55 at the La boarder to I12 is a bit uneven but only 30 miles or so. Another option a bit out of the way....from Jackson continue East to Meridian and take I59 south to I10 (again Slidell). If trying to save time avoid I12/10 between Hammond and Slidell between 4pm and 6pm if you can otherwise it's a smooth ride all other times.
  • I would stay on 10 all the way to 331 south, turn right on it and take it till it comes to an end then turn right on hwy 98 and its about a mile or two on the left.
thats the best way to miss a LOT of traffic.
    have fun.
