Drove I10 this early winter. They are rebuilding it finally. I've had worse drives through construction in the South. I was happy to see the old road go as stated many times it was one of the worst. The 18 mile bridge is smooth and easy going. I have over 65' of truck and trailer. I go that way every year as it is no worse than other roads in the south.
They are always rebuilding it but it never gets rebuilt. And Florida will do construction work on one lane or at night to minimize disruption. Not so in LA. I recall one 5 mile traffic backup coming up on the bridge across the Mississippi. When we finally got to the construction there were about 20 or 30 guys standing around and watching one guy paint traffic markings on one lane. Something that could have been done at 2 AM with minimal disruption of traffic.
