I-15 to Deer Creek State Park in Utah (highway 189?)

Will be passing through here on our way to Oregon and looking for a one night stop. Have stayed at Utah Lake State Park twice and looking for something different, higher elevation and cooler maybe. I am pulling the 28' 5ver in my sig and the 16' boat behind. Can anyone tell me what the road is like if I left I-15 to there and then on to Heber City and north to freeway.
I am currently in Colorado and will be leaving here morning of 6/10...Monday so running out of time for help on this one.
