I-25 from Denver to Wyoming? Really? That's over 80 miles of roadway. I drive this road a lot. Can you cite specific locations to be aware of?
There is a stretch from 120th Ave in Thornton/Westminster north to around the E-470 interchange that has some rough spots, but not what I would call big potholes. And from CO 7 all the way to CO 66 in Longmont, the roadway is fairly new concrete, as it has been expanded to 3 lanes to CO 66. From CO 66 up to US 34 at the Loveland exit, I'll grant you that there's some rough areas here and there. But there was also some resurfacing at Berthoud/Mead hill, and the addition of a 3rd/climb lane on the SB side. From US 34/Loveland exit to CO 392/Windsor exit, there's been a lot of resurfacing, due to the reconstruction of the the intersection at that interchange. And from the Windsor exit north to approximately exit 269/Mullberry exit at Fort Collins, there's been some significant resurfacing. Last time I was north of the Mulberry exit, CDOT was working on areas between Fort Collins and Wellington, and there's some newer concrete up that way as well. North of Wellington to the State Line, it's all been resurfaced at some point in recent years, and sections of concrete have been added.
Now...I am no fan of I-25. Traffic on it is unbearable for the sections I've noted. A recent time I was down that way, a few weeks ago, headed northbound, the southbound traffic was pretty much at a standstill all the way from I-70/I-25 interchange all the way to just south of Loveland. I mean, 20-25mph max speeds southbound the entire distance -- over 50 miles. There are a lot of things wrong with I-25, not the least of which it was not meant for the current traffic volume. But to indict a nearly 85 mile stretch of interstate as being riddled with potholes, is simply not accurate. Yes, there are some potholes. But there are also many stretches of some pretty good roadway. Hats off to CDOT for keeping it in much better condition than it should be, given it's volume.
