- Engineer9860ExplorerGotcha, sorry I can't be much help. Our last trip over 40 was from Dallas east (I-30 to I-40) to Memphis. It was a couple of years ago, midnight, and I don't remember much. :)
- TECMikeExplorerOur route will take us west from Memphis Tennessee to Texarkana, Texas. I-40 from Memphis to Little Rock has always been terrible towing a trailer.
- Engineer9860ExplorerWhere are you going after you get to Memphis?
If you are going north on I-55 you can take 67 out of Little Rock to Poplar Bluff, MO where you can pick up US60. - TECMikeExplorerThought I would bring this thread back for any updates. Any more changes?
- TECMikeExplorerThanks for the report. Sounds like there has been an attempt to do something and that a little progress has been made.
- classicdudeExplorerWe were through there last week (quick visit to Texas), and the road seemed fine. However, there was quite a bottle neck about 40 miles east of Little Rock caused by road construction. The road turns to one lane each way for quite awhile. Not too bad though.
- shelbyfvExplorerI've driven that stretch four times in the past two months. It's not bad. I had no significant delay going through the single lane construction section but it is easily avoidable by using Hwy 70 for a few miles. It parallels I40 and there are signs. Driving through Memphis is tedious.
- VolFamilyExplorerJust came that way hauling our 30 foot trailer Easter weekend. We've been that way four times this spring hauling. The road conditions aren't that improved overall, but the really bad parts have been fixed. The further east you go, the better. The construction is nine miles long, gets a bit tight, but flows pretty smoothly. All depends on the time of day. We never went under 45 mph. Hope that helps.

It was being torn up and replaced last summer when we were on it last between Little Rock and Memphis. Took us two hours to go 35 miles.
Looking at AR state highway department maps shows lane closings and slow downs still on I-40.
You might give AR state highway and transportation dept a 1-800
X2. About a 27 mile stretch in the Eastern part of AR that seems to be under perpetual construction. Single lane each direction. - BB_TXNomadTECmike - I asked the same question a couple months ago.
Here are the answers I got.
Will be going that way in a week.
