I-70 west

Heading to Colorado Springs from Pa towing a 40' 5th wheel and taking I-80 to Youngstown than I-76 to I-71, than I-70.Is there much road construction or any problem areas I should look out for?
  • If you want some ideas on not-to-be-missed sights and public campgrounds around Colorado Springs, take a look at the "US 24" portion of my new blog HERE.

    Have a great trip!
  • I pulled my 40ft fifth wheel from Dayton OH to Colorado a month or so ago and it wasn't bad. Some construction in Indy and St Louis but nothing crazy. After that it was smooth sailing.
  • If you have a smart-phone, google maps with live traffic turned on will show construction backups as red (roads moving normally are green). Just keep your phone plugged in as GM's sucks the life out of the battery as it tracks your location.

The Allstays Camp and RV app uses GM with live traffic as the base layer then you can add other points, such as campgrounds, truckstops, rest areas, Walmarts, etc. using the filter feature of the app, so you can not only see traffic conditions but also what's coming up along your route.
  • I came thru that area 10 days ago, from NJ TO IN and back.
Lots of construction on I-80 in Western PA.
Some construction on 76 and 71
However the slowdown was not too bad as there were no tie ups when two lanes became one. Traffic seemed light in PA.
