- IslandmanExplorerLatest weather report if for snow in Montana in the higher altitudes (7,000+); your route will be okay as you only get a little higher than 5,000 just east of Butte. The snow is supposed to be a heavy wet snow which is sorely needed.
- jgrimesExplorerI agree with Corky - Would dance in the street if it rained hard. Missoula is supposed to be getting some rain today and tomorrow (Kalispell, not so much). However, you never know. Anything can happen. I'd suggest you check the webcams just before you leave. Access it at the MT gov website - highway dept. Good resource. Have a good trip.
- DandM-AGExplorerThanks everyone for the great input (especially Corky!)
Mark - kknowltonExplorer IIUnless there's a HUGE change in the weather patterns in the next few weeks, I don't think you'd have anything to worry about when it comes to ice & snow. It's been a hot dry summer all over the NW.
- Blazing_ZippersExplorer IIWell, I don't know about Corky's "dancing in the street," (that's funny) but I-90 is a 80 MPH road most of the time. The highway does have a couple passes(Look Out, Fourth of July, and Pipe Stone), but never a problem.
Have a good trip. - obgrahamExplorerIt's unlikely, but it is possible. State road cameras will help you out. There are several mountain passes on that route, all are easily traveled and well maintained.
- Corky12ExplorerAnything can happen but typically would not worry about it that early. Right now we would be dancing naked in the streets if it were to snow.
