Years ago when my mother in-law was still living I was driving her to a dental appointment. She couldn't drive anymore after a stroke and severe dementia.
She seemed to cheer up and smile when I entered a roundabout, so I just stayed in it and did a couple laps to give her a thrill. She started giggling and asked me, "Is this real?" I told her that yes it was, and she said, "Oh good. I'm glad it is."
Those were her first complete and lucid sentences in ages.
She was a gem.
