Hi folks,Please advise, in late March we'll be traveling/driving our MH class "A" from the LA area to Dallas TX for a family reunion pulling a Jeep Cherokee, I was told that I10 is a bit longer, but less hilly as you will, is that correct?, never drove that route, please note that, as a retirees, we are kind of new to the whole experience and appreciate all your input.God Bless,Gerard

Yes, by all means I would take I-10 a few years ago I came back on I-40 in May and it a bad snow storm coming over the mountains, around Flagstaff. But I was in luck I was in a car instead of the MH.

There are some mountains on IH-10 but nothing a Winnebago cannot handle with ease. IH-20 begins east of Van Horn and that is the highway you will want to take to get you to Dallas. You could encounter some heavy traffic passing through El Paso. The Escapees Club has a decent RV park in Demming, NM.

In late March I would plan on I40. If the weather turns bad, turn south on US 95 and head to I8 to I10. You have a good chance of sunny weather and a much more scenic drive than I10.

I have done both in winter, fall and spring. Watch the weather, I hate driving through El Paso. I think it is a toss up. I prefer I-40. I think. Mountains are generally not bad but from Flagstaff to Gallup a bit of elevation and then down hill.

the last time i took I-40 thru Az, it beat us to death, very rough
plus that was the trip it overheated and burned up the engine

Me i'll stick with I-10 unless i;m going to Grand Canyon

We have driven both routes extensively from Palm Springs. Everything depends on the weather.

Both routes are about the same in mileage (listing LA to Dallas on google maps). But, I would probably take the 10 to the 20.

Southern route - better weather - may get rain
Northern route - nasty weather -- may get snow

The lower the latitude, the better the attitude :B:B

I-10 east and I-20 Northeast...best travel route..I'll drive in the rain, not in the snow....Dennis
