I'll admit I'm now somewhat paranoid due to our rental car being broken into in Seattle last year, but does any one have any idea if there are any issues along the Icefields Parkway with car break-ins...

Gary's suggestion of "stashing" your stuff before you pull into road side parking lots is stellar.
Most definitely as this is what may have tagged us last year. We had gone for dinner then a walk, came back and grabbed rain coats then left again. We were only gone 10 minutes but in that 10 minutes both back windows were smashed and our stuff taken. We think we may have been seen and that's what the trigger was.
