I am sure that the Jackson's and our vehicles were taken by "low tech" people, but either way, it should be a good thing to tell the insurance company after the fact. People with expensive heavy machinery are still using this technology and recovering a good percentage of their missing assets. I'm sure that if it was easily and quickly defeated in most cases, it wouldn't be the growth industry it is. The other part of this is that people at home can see where you are, and if you have a single-vehicle accident and plunge into the bush, you or your family members can be found fairly quickly, not 2 weeks later, as has happened in quite a few cases.
