On your return up I-5, you might consider a side trip to McMinnville (although this might just be a day trip for you from Portland). The Evergreen Air and Space Museum is well worth the stop. There are a couple of a RV parks in the area...one right next door. The wine tasting in Carlton and surrounding towns is a fun day, too.
