Iola,KS to Oklahoma City avoiding tolls?

It looks like we could take 169 to 75 to 40 OR 54 to 77 to 177 to 40. Is anyone familiar with these towing a big rig? Which would you take? Thanks!
  • Last March, I drove Tulsa to KC on 169, but won't do it again. I felt like I'd driven 400mi. or 10 hrs...which ever is worse. It was actually about 250mi. 169 was 4-lanes for not many total miles, mostly 2-lane with and without shoulders, slow then go. I hate and avoid toll roads with a passion, but sidestepping 169 will be one the exceptions. While planning, I was excited to take a new route, but live and learn. I would take your second route just to avoid 169.
  • A few weeks ago I took 169 & 75 as far as 60 and then headed east. No issues with a crew cab pickup and 30 ft FW.
  • Last year coming from Stonewall Texas to Illinois I thought I would try a different route. Tolls through Oklahoma were $40. cash. You can can bet I will avoid Oklahoma from now on.
