Easter weekend, 1998 on 16 west of Basaseachic Falls, towing a travel trailer we found ourselves behind a car with two males. The car would go slow, we would pass, then the car would accelerate and pass us - happened maybe three times. Then the car disappeared. A few minutes later we came around a bend on this lightly traveled road and found the car parked diagonally in our lane with the hood up. The two males were outside, looking at us and the engine. My wife said you aren't going to stop, and I didn't.
They left enough room to get around and we went around. That was the last we saw of them. That night we camped among Nationals at Basaseachic Falls in a large clearing.
In a week or two, God willing we will return to Mexico for our 9th visit, 2nd time on a motorcycle. We rode 200 last year in Michoacán without incident, it's a beautiful road and lightly traveled in spots.
If the same scenario occurred again I'm not sure if I would stop or go around.
