Google some Canadian papers and watch the news, their always advising us to stay away from Mexico with all the gang violence and corruption.
If you're a tourist and hang out in tourist spots like the old people do them you're pretty safe. I'm talking about outside of the tourist traps that aren't very safe.
No need to defend the place, if you're inept to what's going on down there you should open your eyes!
