If they get mad you will be dead! The OP did exactly what a cool thinking person should do. Give them the damn car and be thankful you are alive. Have we all forgotten about the 70 year old guy with a Dodge PU that tried to avoid a reten? You can visit his grave! I don't see how anyone could cover a car while towing. There are masks for the front end but any car cover would be reduced to shreds in 50 miles. Like a giant parachute. But I certainly would avoid this area in the future. The situation in Michoacán is serious. Too many different militia groups. Untrained and trigger happy.
