I met a Canadian couple in S. Texas one year on their way to Mexico for the winter. Struck up a conversation with the gentleman - his wife wouldn't talk to me since I didn't speak French and they were from Quebec. Anyway, I asked him if he was concerned about the crime in Mexico, and he patiently explained to me that criminal activity in Mexico was aimed at Americans, not Canadians, because of our policy on drugs. Canada, he told me, didn't have a problem with drugs so the Mexican criminals didn't bother them. I asked how the criminals would know he was Canadian and he proudly pointed out the large Canadian Maple Leaf flag emblem on his RV. Guess the original poster here either didn't have his Canadian flag on prominent display, or he had mistakenly displayed an American flag.
