With all due respect, this incident would not happen in the United States or Canada. Yes, you could have your vehicle stolen. But you will not be stopped by roadblocks of armed bandits and then have to drive around for days looking for an authority to report the incident to.
Over the years I have seen many "recovered" stolen vehicles. Generally the last thing you want is to have yours found. The thieves seldom preform routine maintenance or wash and wax them. They do have a habit of tearing them to pieces, however.
Good Point and well said.
We choose to stay in the U.S. and away from the Mexico border also. Lord knows I can find enough trouble here, all by myself.
For those that choose to travel in Mexico, enjoy yourself, who am I to judge?
I won't get into the rest of (although I didn't notice where Art had to drive around for days to report it) but this stretch of highway is fairly isolated. You can travel for long periods without seeing any significant sized civilization. It is probably the most beautiful piece of coastline we have ever driven though. I think we in Canada are a little more used to this kind of highway as there are lots of lonely roads in Canada where you can wait hours and hours for a cop or ambulance to show up. Been there and done that. Part of the adventure of seeing isolated places. To each his own. We all have our comfort zone. Always sorry to see the testosterone come out on these threads and the "my country is better than yours" BS. Just sayin.
