Ketchum to West Glacier

Plan to be in Ketchum in late July and then on to West Glacier.

I assume I want to take 93 North. Do I go up 75 through Stanley to Challis or back down and over 26 through Arco and up to Challis?

Is 93 worth the drive or do I continue over to the I15/I90 to go North?

Any interesting points of interest are welcome
  • The key to using non-reservable campsites is to pull in on Monday to Thursday and be there by Noon or 1pm. It's definitely doable.
  • I see several forest service campgrounds.... no reservations.
Do they fill up during mid-week?
  • I'd also recommend 75 to 93. Beautiful drive. Plan to spend at least a couple nights in the Stanley area. Sawtooth Nat'l Recreation has some nice campground and there an many forest service campgrounds along the river.
  • 75 to 93 is so worth the drive. There's only one real pass to deal with, and it isn't bad. And the view from Galena summit will take your breath away. I am so in love with the Stanley area I can't even tell you.
