- stanbnvExplorerWe personally prefer the RV Park at the Hotel El Cortez in Miramar (almost in Guaymas)
over either Kino Bay or San Carlos. - TequilaExplorerTotonaka are small sites? There are acyally 2, the Hotel next door also has a campground.
- moishehExplorerNever, Never take the back road if you value your rig.
Moisheh - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerRather be in either one than kalamazoo!
- The_TexanExplorerThe last time we tried the "back road" from Calle Doce to Guaymas, it was so bad that the speed was under 20mph most of the way.
- ChinolbzExplorerAnother related question. If visiting Kino Bay first, Do you have to go back to Hermosillo to continue south to San Carlos? Or is there a safe "back road" to get there. Chino
- moishehExplorerTequila: You found the parks not all that nice. But you used the plural. SC has only one park. Small sites. Kino has a choice: You can be beachfront in Old Kino and get a taste of Old Mexico. Or you could stay in Kino Bay RV . This park has activities, a fabulous recreation hall complete with a full kitchen, real maintenance personnel, boat storage and more. There are some smaller parks both on and off the beach. The road to Punta Chueca, a Seri Village, has been paved and is a cultural experience one will not forget. We also like to visit SC for a taste of Gringo life.
Moisheh - ChinolbzExplorerThanks for the info! This will be a car/hotel trip. Chino
- TequilaExplorerSan Carlos gets my vote as well. I found Kino rather dull and the parks not all that nice.
- northsloperExplorerBoth are nice, why chose. Split your time and decide for yourself. Not much driving added to do that. Hey "lots of stuff". Do the car trip / hotel stay and you will be very happy. This last spring we left our class A on the beach in Mazatlan and drove the toad over 2000 miles visiting upcountry colonial cities / towns and down to the coast as far as Acapulco. Non-touristy hotels inexpensive and lots of interaction with the locals. Simple Spainish is all that is needed
