Knoxville Tn to Boone NC what route?
I have always gone through Asheville NC, but wondered about going through Johnson City Tn. Anyone pulled a fiver that route. Thanks, Gary

I would suggest avoiding 321 around Wautaga lake. From Elizabethton stay on 19 thru Roan Mountain to Elk Park Hwy. At Newland take hwy 181 over to NC 105. 105 will lead you into Boone. This route is 53 miles from Elizabethton to Boone and avoids the twists and turns by the lake. I pull a fifth wheel this route.
Thank you, I'll check this route out. After 12 years, I'm tired of going I40 to Morganton, and need a change since Im retired and in no hurry.
