KOA Availability Along I-80

We will be driving from southern Ohio to Grand Teton and Yellowstone this summer.

We will be on I-80
Friday June 26 through Monday June 29
and then
Thursday July 9 through Saturday July 11
(Basically the weekends before and after July 4th).

We have a general idea of where we will overnight but we're not 100% certain.

For anyone who has driven that route, are KOA's generally available to book mid day for that night?

We want to have the flexibility to drive longer / shorter but don't want to risk a campground not being available either.

We will be in a class C so could overnight in a Walmart but would prefer electric in case it is hot and humid.

Thanks!
  • There are generally plenty of KOAs as well as other campgrounds along I80. Most that are close to I80 will have some "overnighter" sites available for "day-of" booking.
  • Get a copy of the KOA directory. It has maps to show the locations of all KOAs. KOA also has an app for your smart phone with maps.

You can also use rvparkreviews.com to locate other RV parks along the way. We often stay at KOAs but don't restrict ourselves to them.

And you can google RV park and a city name to help locate RV parks near a specific city.

I hope you have reservations for Teton and Yellowstone.
