Continue west on 374 into Death Valley National Park... take the first left towards Furnace Creek at the entrance station. Stop at the visitors center and have your picture taken with the Death Valley electronic thermometer, check out the open air Borax museum then continue south. If you have time try not to miss Artist's Palette, a one way loop road a few miles south of Furnace Creek Inn.
Weather permitting... it can get really hot in May in DVNP!
Return to Vegas via Death Valley Junction, and Pahrump, then south on Nevada 160 through Mountain Springs passing Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and it's lovely views...
