left Mexico for Chistmas

Parked the rig in Villa Corona and flew to Bogota. Very surprised, I expected a Mexican style city, but it is very clean, modern and affluent looking. Friends we helped immigrate to Canada 20 years ago invited us to spend Christmas with their families

  • Christmas here seems the same as the US & Canada, some huge malls all decorated up. Only obvious poverty I have seen so far is Venezuelan refugees. It is sad what is happening in that country. No garbage lying around. No metro, which is odd for a city of 9 million, but they have dedicated bus lanes everywhere with stations. Had no issues using transit. Surprised to see Oxxo stores everywhere, I though they were Mexico only. Fuel is about $2.75 US per gallon. Love the food here. Weather similar to Guadalajara. Its at 9,000 ft.
