Lewiston Washington to Missoula

Mountainous, curvy, scenic. Especially the Montana portion. And Lewiston is not quite in WA, just across the line in Idaho.

Yeah I had a fifty fifty chance on that Lewiston thing.. My map shows it right smack dab on the line so never having been there I took a chance :-) So when you say curvy like hair pin turns switch backs or just a regular mountain road. Thanks for the reply.

It's a distant memory, but I don't think you'll have trouble with the road. Much of it follows a river, so it's curvy, not hairpin though. If you want to make time go on up to 90, you'll get to Missoula much quicker, or backtrack to 84 and go through Boise.

That is a beautiful trip. Yes uphill and curvy and follows a river but also has wide areas where you can pull off next to the river and enjoy lunch or a snack. I pulled the hill with a gas 6.0 Chevy and a 30 ft pull trailer with no problems. Time difference should not be a deal breaker, it really is not that much.

Ran that route last year with an F250 pulling a 26' trailer. You will have no problem, great ride.

They took the mega-loads from Lewiston to the Alberta Tar Sands site over Highway 12. Just take your time and enjoy the drive...and don't forget to use the turnouts if you have cars backed up behind you.

You will find that US 12 from Lewiston, ID to Missoula, MT is a very scenic drive, especially from Kooskia over Lolo Pass down to Lolo MT. Truly one of our favorite roads with plenty to see and a relaxing trip; lots of places to pull off and take a walk down to the river or just stop and enjoy the quiet. Make sure you stop at the DeVoto Memorial Cedar Grove and also go to the Visitor Center on the pass. Good camping at Wilderness Gateway CG if you're interested. Enjoy your trip!
