Liard River Hot Spring campground

Hi, in 2012, I camped at Liard Spring, it was the 18 of May, holiday, Victoria day, and it was full. We had no reservation and we had to stay in the overflow, actually the parking area. The area was almost full.

This year, I will be there around Friday the 13 of June but not 100% sure, so I do not really want to make a reservation.

Do you think I can get a site on a first come fist serve? Is this place really busy / full on normal weekend in June, this will be before the end of school, I hope anyway. I do not mind to take a parking spot.

  • We were there in late July last year. It was a cool evening and we enjoyed the springs very much. We didn't have a reservation and the campground was not full. Thanks for the photo Sue, it is beautiful. lizzie
  • We've never reserved for the campground at Liard, but usually plan to stay at the provincial campgrounds at Muncho Lake or Summit Lake the night before, meaning only a short drive to Liard, thus arriving by early to mid-afternoon.

Long weekends it is busy, yes. But in June, July, August it is too warm to really enjoy the hot springs, for us anyway. So usually it is just tourists stopping in rather than locals.

After all, we can visit them anytime in winter or cooler months!

  • Book ahead, I *think* you might be able to make a change to your reservation up to 72hrs before (for a fee)?
  • When we stayed there it was not during a busy weekend or holiday and it was not full nor crowded at all. Perhaps you could get a better idea by calling the campground itself. We did notice that during the Victoria Day weekend the campgrounds were full.
