I own a 1 ton dually. In May I up my RGW to 11000 kilos to cover the weight of my truck and 5er on the ground. In October I drop it back to 4400 kilos, because I'm done pulling the 5er for the season. I also did this for my old 3/4 ton. Right this minute I can't remember what I pay to up it but it's at least a few hundred dollars. When I drop it down there's money coming back but I also get a new sticker at that time and I pay the difference. When I get the weight ratings changed to the higher weight I have to get a CVOR exemption because I'm under 6000 kilos for GVWR. Nothing but a money grab and a PIA. The local Service Ontario people don't have a clue. I have talked to the MTO office in St. Kits and that is where I have gotten my info from. Last I called the number was 1-800-387-7736 and I spoke to a lady named Laura. If you call and get her, tell her what you need and she'll guide you. Write it down and take it with you when you go to the Service Ontario office. Have fun.
