Lincoln, NE to Muskegon, MI Avoiding Chicago Traffic
We're leaving for Muskegon tomorrow and would like to find the best route around Chicago traffic. Would it be better to take HWY 30 from Joliet?

Assuming you are driving straight through I would recommend getting an early start so you can get past the south side of Lake Michigan by 3:00. A lot of people go to Michigan for the weekend and traffic can get jammed up. It's possible that traffic might not be as bad as usual since last week was a holiday weekend.
