I feel funny asking this, but I have never been on the road down from Lake Chelan to US 97 and will be doing it in a 40' DP towing,coming from Winthrop where I scored a site during the blues festival ...

I go to Wenatchee Confluence and Lincoln rock a lot and have stopped taking 97.. Sure, it's shorter distance, but it's windy and has some steep grades and I just grew tired of it. I now just take the extra 30 or so miles and go thru Quincy on 28 instead.. Sure, it takes longer, but it's flatter, straighter and I'm not in a hurry..
I tried 97 not too long ago, just cause I wanted to try it with the Ecoboost and it did fine, but still lots of curves and just not fun for me anymore.. :)
Can't comment on the 'old road', as I always just take 90 between Vantage/Ellensburg..
