Little Rock, AR around or through?

We will be headed to Texas from Illinois and will be heading into Little Rock on I-40 then onto I-30 toward Texarkana. Looking for suggestions, I-40 to I-30 or I-40 to I-430 to I-30 around the south east side. From looking at maps it looks to be about the same time and distance either way. what is your favorite for all that have tried both. Thanks, Jim.
  • No doubt about this one. Take the south bypass. I've been on this route many times--never had to slow down on the bypass. Either way, I-40 to I-30 or I-30 to I-40. Take the bypass.
  • If you are traveling from the East, through Little Rock, during rush hour I would take I40-I430-I30.
  • It's been several years ago since I've been thru there.
Somewhere along I 440, just south the airport, the road was very rough as in the "concrete joint rough".
I just slowed down to about 50 mph and the ride was much, much better. I don't remember that the rough section lasted very long.
If I was going thru there again, I would follow the same route. Just be ready to adjust.

  • Coming into Little Rock on 1-40 from the East
    I would take 1-30

not a bad deal at all if you can avoid rush hours

    Enjoy your trip
