Long Island To Lake George Route?

Some things to do in Lake George. You must take one of the ferry rides on the lake. There are 3 and they all do different things. Its the best way to see the lake. If you are interested in history, take the 9w up to Ticonderoga and see the fort. Its a beautiful drive. Not sure how long you will be there. You won't find any trouble getting fuel along the northway. There is a lot of signage to let you know what is off the exits. Enjoy. Love that area.

This a good alternate route. I-684 to I-84 will avoid any traffic problems before and after the Tappan Zee Bridge. We camp every weekend just outside of New Paltz and this is the route we take especially on Friday nights. There is even a great Cracker Barrel I-84 and US-9 in Fishkill we occasionally stop at with room to park your RV.

Next take I 84 West to the NYS Thruway I 87 North. As soon as you are heading north on the Thruway, there is a rest area where you can fuel up easily. We take the Ferry 2-3 times a month....the entire Throgs Neck bridge GW thing is always a MESS....rattles the hell out of your RV.....I gladly pay the ferry fee, Liesurely ride through wine country, 1 hour twenty minutes on the deck of the ferry crossing the sound .....to each his own....BTW if you factor in Tolls and gas it's not much more....even if it was its worth it to us....

I've been towing a RV every year from Long Island to Lake George since 1980. This is the easiest and shortest route.

I see no real good reason to take the ferry. It takes you out of the way and slows you down. And it aint cheap!

Being that you are from Long Island, you know all there is to know about traffic, so that part will not be a problem for you. :)

Take the Throggs (Throgs)Neck Bridge(I prefer 2 G's btw, as I was raised in Throggs Neck)to 95 North, to 287 west, to 87 North to the Northway past Albany. There are Rest Areas along the way on 87 that you can fuel up in with no problem.
