Yes, riding Mountain is great. If you can nail down dates it is wise to book on-line, we tried to get a site for July last year and after the first 5 minutes that the website opened for reservations all the sites in the town campground were booked.
We stay at travelers RV on the east side of Winnipeg, not a super great place but it's on the ring road and convenient to WPG and the Trans-Canada. Not a destination campground but a good short term stop. There is a water park next door.
Winnipeg is the car theft capital of Canada, be careful where you park!
