March travel from W.Pa to Georgia

The WISE thing to do would be to postpone your departure about 6 weeks....and/or avoid the mountains as much as possible. That might mean going a bit out of the way.

Others can try to help if you INSIST on hitting the road before winter is really over. It is something that I would not be doing.

Watch the weather for a window to get to the nearest interstate then go. Enjoy retirement.

Do watch the weather all the way south. I live in South GA (only 60 miles from FL line) and we have had some real winter weather in March. I actually had to cancel my son's birthday party one year (near St Patricks Day) because of snow and ice. Yes, we had an ice storm this far south. You will need to pay attention to winter warnings and the possibility of ice. Generally roads from Atlanta south are not salted/plowed or anything as the local counties don't have a regular need for that type of road clearing. Oh yeah, our winter storm warnings have different temperature guidelines for what you have up north.

If taking WV turnpike, tolls double after Jan 1, 2019

This Black & Gold truck driver typically takes 79,19,77 then which ever route takes me into the part of GA I am searching for.

An alternative is 70,71 and 75 if you think getting west will avoid the weather...it normally does NOT...the route is much more aggravating.

Winter can be WINTER thru that area. Most of the route is well maintained by the salt shakers, but winter sneaks in when it wants to. More often than not...you slow down and keep plodding along, the road conditions will change AGAIN.

I have spent an unplanned night on an off ramp because someone else was in a hurry. Part of winter driving, especially when towing, is knowing that slower tends to get you there. Impatience puts you in a ditch. You can always park...live to travel another day.

Agree with 79,19 to 77. Then depending which part of Georgia you're heading to either 85 or 26.
