Mariposa Grove (Yosemite) closed until 2017

Just saw this. I haven't seen it posted on here. Mariposa Grove is a good place to see Sequoias if you are on a world wind trip and don't have time to go to Kings Canyon or Sequoia.

Link provides other options for sequoias.

Mariposa Grove Restoration Project
  • I was a little reluctant to even post the existence of Nelder Grove. Beyond the trees, the lure of this grove is the lack of tourists. However, since the Mariposa Grove is closed and this is the only large grove in this neck of the woods, I felt I needed pass along the info.
  • Curiously Nelder Grove was left of of the park service bulletin. It's just over 20 miles south of the Mariposa Grove and contains around 100 mature trees. The best part is; it's not heavily visited. We've frequently been there when we were the only people in the grove.

    Nelder Grove

I forgot to mention: the road to Nelder Grove is not very RV friendly. Toads are great and maybe class c's or small trailers.
