We have had the vehicle import guy/gal go out and check the numbers on the trailer a few times. They may want to see the trailer...
Most regulars at this forum love the Columbia crossing - I hate it. I would suggest taking I-35 to its end, crossing that bridge and going to the import office there - that is actually under the bridge you just crossed over. It's set up to be fast and convenient. No matter what time of the day we hit it things always move quickly. After you're done it's all divided highway and not too busy with traffic until you get out of town.
We used to go a day early or get going at 2am to avoid the rush/lines, but no matter when we get there it always moves fast. Now we cross when we cross - 12 noon or whatever. It's easy.
