As an add to Ed's comments, these computer messages are sometimes not accurate. Last summer I got a message that the DEF was contaminated, this occurred when the DEF tank was low as I wait to the 1,000 km. warning comes on so that I can get 2 cans of DEF into the tank. I assume there was some solidified DEF particles in the bottom of the tank.
Filling the DEF tank solved the problem and the warning went away after a couple of re-starts. And this occurred in Canada, not Mexico.
