the toll road operator pays the government tinterillo
My questions from the beginning have to do with a comparison of the IN toll road going broke and the MX toll roads having very little traffic relative to US toll roads. If US toll roads go broke then aren't MX roadsbgoing broke too? If they are going broke then how can they afford to pay anyone. And if the toll roads have limited traffic due to high cost of using them then how can operators make any money. I have wondered for years why the tolls are so high and the traffic so light. It seems they think that they can increase revenue by increasing tolls instead of increasing revenue by lowering tolls and thereby increasing use of the roads - more users mean more tolls collected and more revenue. Since I have some idea of the cost of road building and maintenance and my experience driving all over Mexico indicates to me that the traffic is minimal on some of these toll roads I cannot imagine how it could possibly be profitable. So why would some company pay some government operative money to get into a concession that is not profitable? I can't seem to find a way to make the discussion I am trying to have any clearer. I don't think any response here has addressed my questions or the reason for the topic.
