To the OP. Depending on what part of Mexico you will be in you will need a vehicle permit. The visa will also depend on your location as well as what your intention is. If you intend to work you need a diiferent type of visa. Consider contacting the consulate. Enjoy your stay. Still one of our favourite countries to travel in. Some great smaller cities and towns to settle in on the south east side including San Miguel de Allende and of course some nice areas on the gulf coast side as well. Some large and ever growing expat communities. If you are trying to avoid that consider Oaxaca or even Chiapis. I
