Michigan to Mt Rushmore, South Dakota
Is it better to take I90 to South Dakota from Michigan or to go I80 across then head north at Omaha? Not sure what the drive around Chicago will be like and if it would be better to stay farther sout...

I had to make several trips to Shriners Childrens Hospital in Chicago for my daughter's surgery, side note...any of you members that are Shriners, you are forever in my heart!
Anyway, I too would avoid Chicago at all cost but the drive on I-94 through Indiana wasn't bad. It was I-94/I-80 when you get into Illinois. Traffic was pretty heavy, except at night but it wasn't really "overwhelming" as some of the other E-ways around Chicago, which you will never, ever be able to pay me enough money to ever drive again!!!!
