Michoacan Grew Safer

Moderator: At the first hint of self-serving alarmism please close this thread.

The leader of the violent criminal cartel was eliminated permanently on the ninth of this month.

The effort was due to the COMBINATION efforts of los marinas naval AND forces of the rurales who worked together to rid the state of this scourge. Los Calballeros Templarios are on the run.

Bottom line. My family and friends told me via 5 hours of phone time Saturday and Sunday that Michoacan is undergoing a rapid transformation.

So keep your hopes and wishes up for a rapid return to carefree visiting of the butterfly reserve, Paricutin, Uruapan, Patzcuaro, Villa Escalante (Sta Clara del Cobre) and the coast.

This is too beautiful a place to lose to alarmism.

Are you still at Bocas de Iguanas #6? We're in La Manzanilla, and will try get the energy to make it down there. I think that we'll at least make it to Chantli Mare for our anniversary on Wednesday.

  • The state of Michoacan has some beautifull places, Morelia is an old Colonial City with interesting buildings and architecture, then you have Patzcuaro with the lake and the island of Janitzio.

We went duck hunting on the lake at Patzcuaro a long time ago, I am glad that we can now travell to that state with more peace and confidence.

  • It's nice to see the government making strides against the lawlessness. I firmly believe that one of these days, tourism in Mexico will flourish again.
