Canadians. What mobile hot spot or stick have you used successfully while travelling in Canada? Any that also work in the US?

The fly in the ointment with Koodo (which I have) is that any overage in data incurs a $20 per GIG extra charge. If you are grandfathered in it is less--but equally there is no warning about the overage.
I don't know the overage charges for Telus off the top of my head but I expect they are equally onerous.
I use over a gig a day.
