Pili looked at the taxiista that quoted that price as if he was Groucho Marx. He got mad slammed the door and drive off. He thought we were vaccionistas. We wanted a ride to Waldos and Back. Glad to hear about the colectivos.
In Ixtapa....
Pass across the street from where the US Consulate used to be. Walk north 300 feet. There is nearest the street a restaurant the family decided was their regional favorite. We've never found anything in Zihuatanejo it's equal for value. Great summer breezes -- super ambiance, clean, upscale, comida corridas, and prices that beat anything we found in Zihua.
Hah if you are searching for the poorest restaurant experience -- come north. Lazaro Cardenas. Wotta hoot.
We dislike Patzcuaro's pathetic restaurants. Settling for food stalls in the market at plaza bocanegra or on the highway leading into town next to the gasolinera. Posada Don Vasco has good food but it's pricey.
Of course we are all spoiled by Brenda's cooking at the enramada. One day southern folks wandered in and discovered Ingles was spoken. It soon became apparent they were homesick for Arkansas grub. Their Arizona friends were at home with Mexican food.
So I whipped up a batch of suthern frahed chicken, biscuits and gravy. Never seen five people eat so much food. Brenda had a look of horror on her face when she saw the preparation of milk gravy with bacon. Used a whole box of USA bisquick.
MIRA MA MA! Dalia was holding up a twenty dollar bill propina (tip)
They returned 15 miles the next morning for Jimmy Dean patty sausage, genuine (my hens) ranch eggs. Genuine hash browns, chiapas coffee. Another huge tip.
Forgot the man's name...
"We was ready to go home"
They finished off by eating Christmas dinner up at the hotel. It was full on -- "Say this the best turkey I've ever eaten!"
Mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry jelly, asparagus from Cuatro Caminos, olives, hazelnuts, and from scratch 16" pumpkin pay, with real whipped cream. The fresh mango cobbler didn't hurt any either.
We had English guests, Darryl and Rose. PG Tips tea made their day. They spent three weeks at the hotel.
Food can make or break an area.
