We plan on keeping S&T, it is still a good planning tool.
Our equipment for planning and traveling:
In-dash GPS Truck Version.
Large USA road map.
GPS receiver for S&T connected to the Laptop.
Whoever is the Co-Pilot has the laptop up front tracking.
In-dash GPS turned on with the destination.
If anything happens the Driver listens - pays attentions to the Co-pilot who will direct them out of a jam or onto a different route. The pilot MUST be wiling to give up control in driving direction and forget about the In-dash GPS.
Of course there are always control the freaks who will not pay attention and they are the ones who end up backing out.
The biggest item to remember, is pull over and discuss anything before going forward.
